In the article published in Inorganic Chemistry Jan Langwald, Mathias Wickleder et al. dive deep into the systematical study by structural analyses and computational studies. The Lewis basicity correlates with the nature of the substituents of the pyridine ring, as can be seen from the S–N distances and the formation of higher SO3 adducts, i.e., further uptake of sulfur trioxide.

Research
Our research group focuses on inorganic coordination and solid-state chemistry dealing, amongst others, with inorganic functional materials based on complex oxoanions. A significant part of our research is dedicated to the synthesis and characterization of new substances.
When deriving and/or analysing new compounds, based on both the type of oxoanion selected and the nature of the elements used, we determine their properties, thus addressing the various functionalities that stem from such compounds.
