Research

Our research group focuses on inorganic coordination and solid-state chemistry dealing, amongst others, with inorganic functional materials based on complex oxoanions. A significant part of our research is dedicated to the synthesis and characterization of new substances.

When deriving and/or analysing new compounds, based on both the type of oxoanion selected and the nature of the elements used, we determine their properties, thus addressing the various functionalities that stem from such compounds.

New DFG Project "Nitrogen Derivatives of Sulfuric Acid"

Our DFG project proposal “Stickstoffderivate der Schwefelsäure” has been approved in 2025. In April 2026, we have launched our research project.

Our DFG project proposal “Stickstoffderivate der Schwefelsäure”  (Nitrogen Derivatives of Sulfuric Acid) has been approved. In April 2026 our reserach profject has started. The research project aims to synthesize new nitrogen-based sulfonic acids and their salts as this class of substances—and thus their scientific and potentially broader potential—has not yet been sufficiently investigated.

The project is divided into two subprojects.

The first subproject, “Mono- and polymeric anions based on imido and nitrido sulfates synthesis of imido and nitrido sulfates,” involves the investigation of mono- and polymeric anions.  The second subproject focuses on “hydrazinesulfonic acids and their compounds”.
