We are happy to welcome Dr. Lars Schumacher, our new academic staff member, to the team. Lars completed his PhD at the University of Münster (Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster) in Prof. Dr Rainer Pöttgen’s research group at the Institute of Inorganic and Analytical Chemistry. His research focuses on the field of inorganic solid-state chemistry, in particular the magnetochemistry of intermetallic phases.
In addition, Lars also worked for several years as a magnetometer operator in the Pöttgen research group in Münster. Since April 2026, we operate the MPMS3 SQUID (Superconducting Quantum Interference Device) magnetometer from Quantum Design. Thanks to his extensive experience with such large-scale equipment, Lars will be an excellent addition to our team – and will also continue to expand his broad research profile in the coming years.
