We are pleased to share our recent work on the synthesis of two new lithium compounds: lithium trichlate and lithium tribromate, both containing water molecules. Lithium trichlate was produced by reacting a specific acid with lithium hydroxide, while lithium tribromate was formed through a similar reaction with a brominated acid. Both compounds yielded colorless crystals with distinct structures influenced by the alignment of their molecular units. They feature pairs of lithium ions coordinated with oxygen, with differences in crystal arrangements arising from the orientation of these pairs. Our experimental results align well with theoretical predictions, highlighting the potential applications of these compounds. For more details, please refer to our latest paper.
