Professor of Solid-State and Coordination Chemistry

Mathias S. Wickleder

Since 2017, Prof. Dr. Mathias S. Wickleder holds the Chair of Solid-State and Coordination Chemistry at the Institute of Inorganic and Materials Chemistry at the University of Cologne.

Together with his research team, he focuses on the synthesis and characterization of compounds with special magnetic and optical properties, the development of sulfonate-based coordination polymers, and the investigation of non-metallic compounds with oxo-anions. Another focus is on the study of reactions in concentrated acids at high temperatures, the development of new noble metal complexes, and the characterization of the catalytic activity of gold and noble metal nanoparticles.
